The Lighthouse is owned by the Saugerties Lighthouse Consevancy, a non-profit organization. The purpose of the Conservancy is to maintain and operate the lighthouse for the benefit of the public as well as to educate visitors of the value and heritage of the lighthouse.
The Conservancy is funded entirely by admission from visitors, sales of lighthouse souvenirs, overnight guests, member contributions, private donations, and special fund-raising events. Support the preservation of the lighthouse--become a member of the Conservancy. Membership includes 10% discount on souvenir and 10% discount on overnight stays at the lighthouse. To become a member of the Conservancy or to renew a previous membership, please complete the Membership Sign-up Form and mail it to the Lighthouse Keeper.
The work of maintaining the lighthouse continues with the help of volunteers and active members. On weekends during the summer, the Conservancy relies on volunteer docents (tour guides ) to offer public tours of the lighthouse. There are also opportunities to get involved with volunteer maintenance projects. If you are interested in volunteering please complete the Volunteer Sign-up Form and mail it to the Lighthouse Keeper.
Every summer, the Conservancy hosts a music festival at the lighthouse as a fund-raiser to support the continued preservation of the lighthouse. The event includes live music, food, and drinks. Usually held on the second Sunday of August, 2PM-dusk.
