Lost & Found

At the beginning of the week, I received a phone call from Anna, who lost a canoe on North Tivoli Bay. During an outing with a friend over the weekend, she was forced to abandon the canoe in a minor emergency. Both her and her friend were okay, but when Anna returned for the canoe the next day, it was nowhere to be found. It had drifted away during the night. A friend of hers suggested calling the lighthouse in the hopes of recovering the canoe. Apparently, the lighthouse is now the unofficial lost & found hotline for this part of the Hudson River. I told her that hadn’t seen any canoes adrift on the river, but I offered to put out an APB to other river folk. Yesterday, I got a phone call from Dock in Glasco. He found a red canoe on the far side of Magdalen Island. The canoe was partially filled water from rainfall this week, but was otherwise in good shape. I phoned Anna this afternoon with the good news. She was happy to hear that her missing canoe had been found.
