The Lighthouse Trail is open to the general public from sunrise to sunset. It also serves as access for overnight B&B guests. The 1/2-mile long trail is a sandy path with bridges and boardwalks. Trail conditions vary with the weather and seasons. After high water, you may encounter woody debris & flotsam on the trail. During winter, you may encounter ice and snow. Footwear appropriate to the conditions is recommended.

Stay alert to changing trail conditions. Check for updates at the Trail Conditions category in the Keeper's Logbook.

Portions of the Lighthouse Trail experience mild tidal flooding on a twice-daily basis. Any high tide of 4.0 feet or higher may cover portions of the trail. Tides rise and fall at a rate of nearly 1/2 foot per hour. Allow enough time before and after high tide time for trails to clear. For example, a high tide of 5.0 feet will cover the trail for 2 hours before the time of high tide and remain for 2 hours afterwards.

To find out exactly what time high and low tide will occur everyday, please check the local tide tables: Annual Tide Table.
