Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea
Wednesday evening, August 20th. 8 PM. Free.

The Saugerties Lighthouse is pleased to host a performance of Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea created by artist Swoon. The performance is part of series of stops for a flotilla of seven hand crafted vessels navigating the Hudson River from Troy to the New York harbor this August 15th – September 7th. Powered with alternative energy sources, the vessels will be visting towns along the way, including Saugerties on August 20th. Those aboard will be bringing live performances to the water and shore alike, courtesy of playwright Lisa D’Amour, the indie-folk band Dark Dark Dark and circus composer Sxip Shirey. Their ultimate destination is Long Island City, where Swoon will have created an “invented landscape” at the Deitch Projects space along the East River. The performance at the lighthouse is free and open to the public. Please carry a flashlight for traveling the trail after dark. Note: normally, the lighthouse trail closes at sunset; this is an exception, so please be respectful.
