Boat-and-breakfast

Post placeholder image

This morning I had breakfast at the lighthouse with my downstream neighbors Kate & Dock. Yesterday at dusk, they sailed up from their riverside home in Glasco and anchored overnight in the shallows north of the lighthouse. They were trying out their new/old tri-hulled sailboat and enjoying a moonlit night on the river. When I stepped outside this morning, they were rowing ashore, just in time for coffee. I grabbed some bagels from the pantry, and the three of us sat down to a light breakfast. Shortly, Dick dropped in from the village and joined us for a cup of coffee. He was out for a low-tide walk with Karlyn, the village historian, in search of an old, submerged roadbed leading to a small island in Mynderse Bay. She’s writing a book on Saugerties maritime history.
