A story in this morning’s Daily Freeman concerns a new neighbor directly across the river from the lighthouse:

Rolling Stone publisher’s helipad plan unpopular in Red Hook

RED HOOK — The town’s Conservation Advisory Council has asked the Town Board to deny a request by Jann Wenner, the publisher of Rolling Stone magazine, to build a helipad at his riverfront home in Red Hook.

Council Chairwoman Brenda Cagle told the board on Tuesday that Wenner’s 62.9-acre property on Davis Lane — which is off Woods Road, just north of the village of Tivoli — is environmentally sensitive, and she noted that town planners recently determined a requested pool and pool house on the property could have a harmful effect on the area, which has a historic designation.
